Do you find breakfast a challenge? It’s time to get EGG-cited!
As a shift worker for 20+ years, I hated breakfast at 6am. I would just stuff down a couple of wheat based things compacted into brick shapes (no brands mentioned). It nearly made me gag, but I didn’t know when my next chance to eat would be so it had to go down, and quick! Trouble being, I was hungry come 10am and getting a little antsy about when I would get a break. I’m sure some of you can relate whether you’re a shift worker or not, breakfast can be seen as a chore.
Knowing what I know now, I would’ve filled my belly to keep me going until lunch no probs.
Ok, so what’s the secret?
The secret is indulging in quality protein, healthy fats and keeping the carbs/sugars low. My favourite way to get these in is from eggs cooked in ghee with a side of mushies all on a slice of Diversity dough toast (high in fibre and fermented to make it low in carbs) Bloody quick to whip up too.
Now you might think that sounds complicated, but it’s not that hard. One pan wonder! The smell of the melted ghee stimulates your appetite and gets the juices flowing. You only need 5 minutes really, I promise! If that sounds too hard then try boiling some eggs the night before and downing them with some quality salt and pepper. (I use this Seaweed Salt to get a dose of minerals with iodine)
Organic eggs for $1…..NO EXCUSES!
Most importantly, always buy the best eggs you can afford. Even organic eggs are only a dollar each so there’s no excuse really. Eggs are a complete meal in themselves and not the demons they were made out to be in an effort to reduce heart disease….heart disease didn’t go anywhere when they made fat the bad guy (processed oils, yes, but not natural sources).
Your Challenge is to JUST DO IT!
Try it for a week and see how you feel. Make it your “not negotiable” and wrap your laughing gear around the complete meal that is a couple of eggs with veggies on the side any time of day.
